CD Projekt RED: Don’t Count on Cyberpunk 2077 VR

John Mamais, a CD Projekt RED studio employee, spoke with OnMSFT about VR implementation in the upcoming RPG Cyberpunk 2077.

According to Mamais, the team was thinking about VR support in the game, but although some things work in virtual reality, it is not yet possible to fully implement this technology in Cyberpunk 2077. In addition, VR is still an experimental niche and does not bring a lot of money. Therefore, CDPR is not involved in this area at the moment.

Nevertheless, it remains likely that instead of CD Projekt RED, modders will work on the implementation of VR in Cyberpunk 2077 – especially if the developers release an official modkit for the game, as it was with The Witcher 3. Cyberpunk 2077 will be released in September 2020 on PC, PS4 and Xbox One
