NVIDIA officially reduced the cost of the GeForce RTX 2060. The new product introduced a year ago at CES 2019 started with a price tag of $349. At that time, it was already the most affordable option for the buyers in the RTX line, and now you can buy a video card even cheaper – for $299.
NVIDIA’s decision is probably related to the imminent release of the Radeon RX 5600 XT. AMD’s new product, although insignificant, is still more powerful than the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti (about 20% performance increase), and the price tag for both video cards is the same – $279. As a result, NVIDIA found itself in a situation where it needed to give an “answer” to competitor: Either lower the cost of the GTX 1660 Ti, or lower the price of the GeForce RTX 2060, which the company ultimately did.
At a price tag of $299, the GeForce RTX 2060 is only $20 more expensive than the Radeon RX 5600 XT, but offers full support for ray tracing and proprietary DLSS technology, which makes the “green solution” a more interesting item to buy. This is a reference version of the Founders Edition, so that some non-reference models can be found even cheaper than $300. EVGA, for example, will soon begin selling the GeForce RTX 2060 KO GAMING for just $279.
