Developers from Echtra Games studio and Perfect World Entertainment decided to abandon the original Torchlight Frontiers concept and turn this game into a full-fledged Torchlight III, similar in spirit to the first two games of the series. They announced this today through a press release distributed through media channels.
Initially, it was assumed that Torchlight Frontiers will receive MMO elements and will become an offshoot of the main series, which will be distributed according to the shareware model with microtransactions. However, watching the reaction of the focus group and alpha testers, the developers decided to revise the plans and transformed the project into Torchlight III, which will be sold for money and will not receive a microtransaction system.
Already this summer, the game will be released on PC on Steam, and then it will be moved to the consoles.
In the coming weeks and months, the authors will tell us more about the new product. So far, three classes of characters confirmed for Torchlight III – a warrior, engineer and mage. It is also reported that gamers will be able to complete Torchlight III both online and offline.
After the launch, continuous support with new content is planned for the game.
